Vegan "Fish" Tacos
Serving: Typically 4-6 tacos (Dependent on the amount of heart of palms in can/jar and how many placed in each taco)
Vegan “Fish” Ingredients:
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 can/jar of heart of palm
- 1 cup chickpea flour
- 1 cup unflavored oat milk
- ½ tablespoon celery salt
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup crumbled nori
- 1 cup peanut oil
- Tortillas
Vegan Slaw Ingredients:
- 1 cup vegan mayonnaise
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 2 cups chopped cabbage
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar or agave
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Vegan “Fish” Instructions:
- Heat oil into a pan on a temperature hot enough to fry.
- In one bowl, add the chickpea flour, oat milk, ½ cup crumbled nori, celery salt, paprika, red pepper flakes, pepper, garlic powder, and mix thoroughly.
- In another bowl, add all bread crumbs, the rest of the crumbled nori, and optional salt and pepper to taste.
- Place each heart of palm on a flat surface and gently flatten with a fork.
- Dip each heart of palm generously into flour mixture and then coat in breadcrumb mixture.
- Place each heart of palm into oil to fry until crispy golden brown, this usually takes 3 minutes with oil on medium heat. Flip so that both sides are crispy golden brown. Then place each on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
- Place the vegan “fish” (multiple if desired) inside of a tortilla. (Heat tortilla on pan if desired)
Vegan Slaw Instructions:
- Mix chopped cabbage with vegan mayonnaise.
- Add brown sugar or agave and lemon juice to the mixture with optional added salt and pepper to taste and mix thoroughly.
- Place the desired amount of slaw in each tortilla.
- Serve!
