1. F.E.P. at World Veg Festival

The San Francisco Vegetarian Society will be commemorating World Vegetarian Day by hosting its annual WORLD VEG FESTIVAL on Saturday and Sunday, October 2nd and 3rd. F.E.P. will be tabling on both days, AND our director, lauren Ornelas, will be speaking on Sunday afternoon. The event will also feature many other well-known speakers. The two-day festival is taking place in the San Francisco County Fair Building, located at the Lincoln Way and 9th Avenue entrance to Golden Gate Park. We’d love to see you there!
2. Upcoming events!

World Farmed Animals Day observed on (or around) October 2nd, is dedicated to exposing, mourning, and memorializing the more than 58 billion cows raised for ‘meat’ and milk, chickens raised for ‘meat’ and eggs; as well as pigsturkeys, and other land animals who needlessly suffer and die every year in the world’s factory farms and slaughterhouses.

World Vegan Week, October 24 – 31st, is a celebration of compassion and a time to take action for animals, the environment and everyone’s well-being. We encourage people to use this week to educate their communities about the vegan lifestyle as a compassionate, sustainable, and healthy way of eating and living.

Join In Defense of Animals to participate in these events!

* Suggested language and details: Please make a polite phone call and keep in mind the person you are speaking to probably has no idea about this policy—most people don’t. You just need to stay on the line for a customer service representative. For Safeway, they will ask you for your full name and phone number and if you have a Safeway card number.
Suggested language: “I am calling to log a comment against a Safeway / Albertsons policy that sometimes puts restrictive deeds on its former properties and prevents other grocery stores from moving in, sometimes for 10 years or more. This has impacted community health. I would like Safeway / Albertsons to end this policy immediately.”

If they ask questions you cannot answer, feel free to provide our email: info@foodispower.org and remind them you are calling because you disagree with this practice.

Order some of our leaflets to share with others by emailing info(at)foodispower.org.

Join us by taking a stand in front of your local Safeway / Albertsons! Find a demo to attend here.

Want to organize your own demo? We can send you leaflets and posters. Contact us here for additional details.
